Focus: Watch What You Give Power

If you had to pick one thing what would you say is your top distraction? That one thing that can get your attention quickly & keep it strongly?

Would it be a television series like Game of Thrones? An app...let’s say Instagram? What about something that's been around forever like gossip? Regardless of what it is I believe most of us can say that distractions can be more powerful than we realize.

For my college alum think back to midterms or finals. It's the night before one of your tests & you’re studying with some of your friends. Next thing you know, a conversation comes up about someone’s fight or breakup. Before you know it, three hours had went by & you’d lost time to study. It's the same way in life.

We can be preparing for a life test or attempting to reach a specific goal. Then someone or something from the past pops back up bringing old mess and trying to create new mess.

At that time we have two choices: feed into the foolishness or press towards our purpose.

I know it’s not super easy, especially with ties and history, but you have to ask yourself is it worth it and can you truly do anything to change it. A good part of the time the answer to both of these questions are, “No”.

Even Proverbs 4:25 says, “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.”
(‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:25‬, ‭NLT‬‬)

Don’t allow what others are doing knock you off of the path God has for you. I am having to tell myself this as we speak. It may be a fight at times, but it is worth it for my future...for our future.

So, move forth with focus towards the future that is meant for you and push that foolishness aside. It is not worth it.
