Dictionary.com defines fear as, "a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid." To me this couldn't be more true.
Over the last 5-6 months I've been going back-and-forth with fear, but it wasn't one that everyone usually talks about. It was fear of the unknown.
I've always been someone who values stability and control. I like to know what, how, when, where, & why something is going to happen. I want to know it all. However, God's not a God of "stability". He's a God of surrender, and that's exactly what I had to do.
See, I finished a book late last year which focuses on my life & battles. It touched on stuff that I’d worked on for years & brought forth struggles that I'd rather had kept private.
With that being said, it was a big step for me to reveal my journey & some of the valleys and mountains that were involved. I was concerned about what people would think and the effect it would have on my personal life. Some people can't deal with the truth, no matter how it's described. Also, I couldn't fully guarantee if it would be financially successful as well.
I didn't know if this book would leave me blessed, successful, and loved or forgotten, broke, and hated. The fact that I couldn't decipher how it would go down worried and scared the mess out of me. It truly tested my faith and trust in God.
That's when I had to think about the scripture that says, "So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today." (Matthew 6:34 NLT) In other words, don't worry about tomorrow because God's got it.
Not moving forth in your destiny because you don't know exactly what it holds is foolishness. That is bondage that'll keep you from fulfilling the purpose that God has for you.
So, do not allow the fact that tomorrow is unknown to keep you from continuing your journey today. God's got you & that's all you need to know.
